Results are as follows: If the streak is unaffected, it is platinum. If the streak dissolves or changes color, the material is not platinum. Palladium will usually turn red. EXAMPLE: If the object passes the 18K test but fails the 22k test then the object must be at least 18 karats but less than 22 karats so the material would be rated at 18 karat gold.
